We've been out with the survey here in icy Ballarat (an overwhelming top of 8˚ today!) and the response has been 100% positive!
To make the most of it, we've used the survey not only for door knocking, but also at our market stall and BREAZE events.
Door knocking was something I haven't done before and to be honest, I wasn't hugely excited about it. Four of us BREAZErs rugged up on a Sunday afternoon, got some advice from others around Australia who'd taken the lead, mapped out our route over hot coffee and then set off to rally up some enthusiasm for renewable energy. And we did exactly that!
The response was overwhelmingly positive. For me, the highlight was stumbling randomly across a few BREAZE members who I hadn't met before the day. They were kind enough to provide a bit of shelter from the cold winds while we chatted about renewable energy and the lack of action. They were honestly grateful to know that we were out in the community carrying on with such work.
Through our door knocking, we met many people who hadn't given a lot of thought to the origin of their electricity before. The survey certainly set the cogs ticking into action - you could see the ah-ha moment happen right in front of your eyes.
We also keep the survey at our regular Local Farmer's Market stall and at BREAZE events. The next one we have on the calendar is "Re-powering Australia", which, surprise surprise, is all about renewable energy! I've been allocated 10 minutes to talk to the audience about the 100% Renewable Campaign... so I'll be sure to mention the survey and get some more filled out on the night. With a bit of luck, I might even rally up some more troops for future door knocking expeditions.
With a population of around 90,000... we certainly wont get to everyone, but we'll do what we can with the great volunteer base we have. And importantly, we'll have fun doing it!

I withdraw my statement of 8˚. Yesterday was the coldest day here in 10 years - we reached a warm top of 5.5˚!
