Feed-in tariffs have been the single most effective policy at boosting investment in renewable energy around the world. They have led to the creation of millions of new jobs, billions of dollars of new investment - and the installation of heaps of new renewable energy projects.
Unfortunately, they are probably also one of the worst named policies around - as anyone whose tried to talk to people on the street about this policy will have found.
But just because someone gave this policy a really bad name, doesn't mean Australia should be getting left behind in the global renewable energy race!
So that's why we've come up with a better way to communicate what it is we want - a policy that will give renewable energy a fair go.
We want a 'Fair Go for Renewables' Bill to be introduced into parliament and supported by every MP in the nation.
This 'Fair Go for Renewables' Bill will introduce a feed-in tariff that will support investment in renewables energy projects at the small, medium and large scales.
As some will know we've agonised over what to call this policy for quite some time. "Do we call it a Clean Energy Bonus Scheme? A Solar Scale Up Scheme? Renewable Energy Payments?" None of them quite captured the essence of what this policy would do.
We think a 'Fair Go for Renewables' Bill represents what it is we want to see happen in Australia - giving renewable energy a fair go. That's why we'll be calling for this policy from now on.
See this briefer to read more about why we we need a Fair Go For Renewable Bill.
