MEDIA RELEASE
Environment, health and community groups have gathered in Sydney today to discuss the future of wind energy in NSW. As electricity prices continue to rise for most NSW households, the groups have welcomed reports from South Australia that wind power is cutting pollution and lowering the wholesale market cost of electricity.

.... it's nice to know you have thousands of messages of support for renewable energy behind you.
A huge congratulations again to the hundreds of volunteers from 72 local groups who gave up their Sat morning sleep-ins and Sunday arvos in the garden with kids to have thousands of conversations about renewable energy over the past few months.
Today, we're excitedly heading to Canberra to present a Report on 14,000 Renewable Energy Conversations - conversations held by thousands of you in every corner of the country over the last four months - to the members of the Multi-party Climate Change Committee.

Dear MPCCC member,
I am a father of 3 young boys and after taking my oldest son Ronan to his soccer game on Saturday morning I will be heading out with 10 other members of my community group, the Mount Alexander Sustainability Group, doorknocking my town of Castlemaine.
I and members of our group have been doorknocking and talking to people in street stalls now for 2 months about the need for more government support for renewable energy and putting a price on pollution. In this time we have had conversations with hundreds of people.
Climate Committee members are heading into a long weekend of the negotiations about the carbon price tomorrow and the polluters are up to the their usual tricks putting claims on carbon price money that could otherwise be going into renewable energy.
Last Tuesday afternoon I lugged to the post office, letters to 226 Federal Senators and MPs on behalf of a substantial 111 community groups! These community groups came from all states and territories across Australia.

In three days I will be flying out of Australia to Europe. Leading up to this trip I’ve had much discussion and drowned in endless research into which of the zillions of carbon offsets I should purchase.
After getting to know the 100% Renewables Campaign through Wagga Wagga’s local climate action group CROW, I decided the best way to alleviate some of the carbon guilt I’ll be carrying as I backpack (and fly) around the globe, would be to instead invest my carbon offset dollars by a donation to the campaign.

Local groups running the national have now reached nearly 2000 people, as the survey gathers steam out in the community.
Over 20 groups have now shared interim reuslts with the national campaign and the results are
surprisingly clear. Whether in the burbs of Brisbane, the cool climes of Orange, or the Clarence coast community members think we need to be doing more on renewable energy.
