Last weekend, groups started flyering in ALP seats around the country, worried that their MPs will cave in to the big polluters and see the carbon price do very little for renewable energy, despite huge community support for renewable energy.

Today, we're excitedly heading to Canberra to present a Report on 14,000 Renewable Energy Conversations - conversations held by thousands of you in every corner of the country over the last four months - to the members of the Multi-party Climate Change Committee.
Lindsay and Duncan from Climate Action Newcastle met with Minister Greg Combet on Tuesday, to share information with him about all of you - the very many committed community members who are working for renewable energy in their communities, and who will fight for a price on pollution that will deliver good renewable energy outcomes.
Expect a more detailed blog post from Lindsay later today with more interesting commentary as to how the meeting went, but in the meantime, we've put out the following media release:

Our Regional Organisers have been checking in with groups around the country, and in doing so, we’ve discovered that the campaign survey is going gangbusters! With preliminary survey results due pretty soon (in the next week or two), groups have been reporting that the survey is a really flexible tactic, and something that they’ve been able to easily incorporate into existing events and activities.

We all know that humans are visual beings, responding to smiling faces from a young age, and becoming equally responsive to photographs, logos and imagery - in fact, this is something the corporate world has known for a while, and continues to leverage on.
But equally, good branding can give a campaign such as this one a proper identity, something for people to grasp and share - think of the recent Greenpeace Kit Kat / Killer mash up for example.

After the flood of fabulous launch photos coming in from community groups around the country, I had lots of fun sorting and resizing and captioning them appropriately, putting them all into the slideshow that you can now see on the website front page, and uploading them to the flickr page.
So I’m a couple of days late in blogging about this but really wanted to let you all know how much fun Climate Action Newtown had last Sunday during our 100% Renewable campaign launch.

At Climate Action Newtown, we’ve not only started planning for our 100% Renewable launch events to coincide with the campaign launch on May 2nd, we’ve had a pre-launch launch in the shape of a practice photo with a local Newtown sign!

Exciting news came to the ears of Climate Action Newtown members a few weeks ago - our local council was considering a proposal to build a demonstration wind farm in our area. The urban wind project, with micro turbines, would be located along the road to the international airport - a great opportunity to showcase this technology and the potential of renewables to a vast audience!
