One of our invaluable volunteers from Sydney, Sue McKinnon, tells her experience of Clean Energy Week 2012. Thanks also to Tom, Steve, Col, Terry and Dominic who joined us on the stall too.

Steve at Clean Energy Week 2012A keen and energetic group of volunteers staffed the 100% Renewables stall at the Clean Energy Week 2012 conference in Sydney this week. We spoke to hundreds of industry representatives and decision makers over three days, speaking to conference delegates as well as staff at the hundred or more trade stalls. Most renewable energy industry workers hadn’t heard of our group, and many were impressed as we shared our story.

We listened to their stories in return, and were frequently impressed by the passion shared by these people – some had left better-paid jobs in more traditional industries to be in the forefront of change, others wanted their local area to unite as a transition town.

After all the time and energy we spend trying to persuade politicians that renewable energy has a future, it was a breath of fresh air to see so many people in one (enormous) room demonstrating that it is a present reality!
