Today, I'm writing through bleary eyes home in Sydney following my return from six weekends of campaign workshops in six towns across the country. I'm not quite sure what city I'm in and my bedroom looks like a hurricane has hit, hurling used butchers paper, scrunched clothes and old flyers around the room.

My topsy turvy home life is only matched by the topsy turvy world outside - a world where angry Abbott and his attempted people's revolt, together with parts of the the media, are doing their darnedest to block any action on climate change.

I go door knocking with my confidence a little dented after Stephen, noticing my unusually neat appearance, comments I look a bit Mormonish. Stephen is casually dressed in shorts and a freshly ironed 100% t-shirt. Hmmm, perhaps the dark slacks, dark green shirt and wide brimmed white hat with paisley ribbon is, well, not so much Mormonish as Texan-Cowboy-Goes-to-the-Beach. Oh well, too late to change and anyway I really like that hat, it often brings me luck.

Sean, my daughter Tully and I decided to get out in the public and so we turned up bright and early to the monthly Wauchope Farmers Market.  We had a lovely morning meeting folk and sharing time chatting about about renewable energy, pricing carbon and the politics of the moment. We had a board set up in a strategic spot with all of the 100% campaign pics, ACF's map of Oz and its amazing renewable potential and our survey stuff.

Last Sunday I attended the 100% Renewables Campaign training workshop in Brisbane.

Though the day was wet and rainy, travelling out to Sandgate provided a great chance to meet with others working in SE QLD and realise the benefits of doing something positive with a bunch of other active and passionate people.

On October 7th the Mount Alexander Sustainability Group (MASG) and Bendigo Sustainability Group (BSG) met with our local federal member for Bendigo Mr. Steve Gibbons. We took with us piles and piles of surveys, over 350, collected from street stalls and door knocking across the two towns, and presented him with a 12 page list of comments collected from people.

Volunteers from Sutherland Climate Action Network spent Sunday morning doorknocking in Cronulla to gauge community support for renewable energy, as part of a world’-wide day of community climate action, billed as the most widespread civic event in history.

The survey of south Cronulla residents found strong support for renewable energy, with 83% saying the government should develop a plan to shift Australia to 100% renewable energy. The group's surveys at local shopping centres showed 92% of respondents wanting a plan for 100% renewables.

Local groups running the national have now reached nearly 2000 people, as the survey gathers steam out in the community.

Over 20 groups have now shared interim reuslts with the national campaign and the results are surprisingly clear. Whether in the burbs of Brisbane,  the cool climes of Orange, or the Clarence coast community members think we need to be doing more on renewable energy.
