Achieving 100% clean renewable energy is 100% possible. Australia is a land rich in solar, wind, wave and hot rock potential and with existing technology, combined with vision and leadership we can use these resources to create thousands of new jobs and clean safe power that will never run out.
The 100% renewable campaign is calling for the introduction of a national feed-in tariff to unleash investment in renewable energy projects from rooftop solar PV, to community wind and solar projects and large industrial scale projects like solar thermal, wave and geothermal.
While a national feed-in taiff is an important first step, getting to 100% renewable energy will of course require a range of measures, including energy efficiency, a morotorium on new coal power and the end of fossil fuel subsidies, a price on carbon, research and development, smart grid upgrades, direct investment and more.
Read about the measures to get to 100% in our 10 Steps to 100% Renewable Energy.
But is it really possible, you ask? Can we really do it? Numerous studies show that is indeed possible to make an urgent transition to 100% renewable energy.
To find out more about these studies see Plans for 100% Renewable Energy.
While these plans show 100% is entirely do-able what is really preventing 100% renewable energy, is not the technology, is not the perfect policy mechanism but the political will and leadership from our governments to make the 100% vision a reality.
That's why it's so important for every Australian who believes in a clean energy future to join the campaign and get active to make it happen!
