Climate Action and sustainability Group based in Central Victoria with 800 members. Most of our work is helping local people take action on climate change through a variety of projects. We have recently become more involved in advocating for structural changes in policies of the decision makers in government and business around climate change.

Across Australia on June 5 people will stand up and say YES to action on climate change a price on pollution!

At 11am (1pm in Brisbane, 1.30 in Canberra) on Sunday, June 5, we'll come together in every major city to show our support for action on climate change.

Dear MPCCC member,

I am a father of 3 young boys and after taking my oldest son Ronan to his soccer game on Saturday morning I will be heading out with 10 other members of my community group, the Mount Alexander Sustainability Group, doorknocking my town of Castlemaine.

I and members of our group have been doorknocking and talking to people in street stalls now for 2 months about the need for more government support for renewable energy and putting a price on pollution. In this time we have had conversations with hundreds of people.

In today's Canberra Times, Greens senator, Christine Milne, stated, almost verbatim, 100% Renewables demand for Australia to implement the transition from fossil fuels to renewables.

''While Labor is still wedded to its outdated target to reduce Australia's pollution by 60per cent by 2050, the Greens read and understand the climate science and are committed to setting Australia on the path to a zero emissions economy as soon as possible,'' Senator Milne said.

The Australian Conservation Fund (ACF) has recently published a report detailing the $12 billion of subsidies being paid in support of fossil fuels: http://www.acfonline.org.au/uploads/res/climate_expenditure_and_subsidies.pdf

Wouldn't be great if this hypocrisy was turned around 180% and those funds given to renewables!  There'd be no need for a market based carbon pollution price and they could get on with implementing  a national FiT insteadl!!

It’s a beautiful autumn Sunday afternoon in Castlemaine and we are ready to go out doorknocking for the 100% renewables campaign. I am nervous, I always am until I’ve had a few doors under my belt, but Ian is his usual implacable calm self.

Today, I'm writing through bleary eyes home in Sydney following my return from six weekends of campaign workshops in six towns across the country. I'm not quite sure what city I'm in and my bedroom looks like a hurricane has hit, hurling used butchers paper, scrunched clothes and old flyers around the room.

My topsy turvy home life is only matched by the topsy turvy world outside - a world where angry Abbott and his attempted people's revolt, together with parts of the the media, are doing their darnedest to block any action on climate change.

On October 7th the Mount Alexander Sustainability Group (MASG) and Bendigo Sustainability Group (BSG) met with our local federal member for Bendigo Mr. Steve Gibbons. We took with us piles and piles of surveys, over 350, collected from street stalls and door knocking across the two towns, and presented him with a 12 page list of comments collected from people.

83% of Castlemaine residents say Australia should develop a plan for 100% renewable energy.

Volunteers from the Mount Alexander Sustainability Group hit the streets in Castlemaine and spoke to over 200 local residents.

Hi it’s Dean from the Mount Alexander Sustainability Group in Castlemaine. My son Ronan and I were on regional Win TV on Monday June 22nd talking about the need for a National Feed in Tariff. We were asked to comment on the RET, or Renewable Energy Target, and what the amendments would mean for renewable energy in our area.

Over the last few weeks in Castlemaine we have had a stall on Saturday mornings distributing the Beyond Zero Emission reports on 100% by 2020 and using the 100 % Renewable Energy survey to talk to people about the issue.
