Transition Town Initiative for Kurilpa captures West End, Highgate Hill, Hill End and South Brisbane. Anyone who lives and/or works in the Kurilpa area is welcome to come and join us. We aim to have a sustainable Kurilpa peninsular. We are targeting action on the twin and related issues of Climate Change and Peak Oil, as well as broader issues of sustainability.
We feel that the Brisbane City Council (and indeed all levels of government here and world wide) are failing to plan for these issues adequately, and therefore, our society is not sustainable. As such, we, as members of the Brisbane Community, aim to assist and work with Brisbane City Council, local business and the community to address these issues. It is early days yet, but we aim to work with the council, both at the officer and elected member levels. We are non party aligned. Councils can only push the sustainable agenda as much as the community will give them the mandate to do so.
Come and get involved in Transition Kurilpa: Transition Kurilpa meets every second Wednesday of the month. See the Events page of our website for our next meeting and other events we may be organising or just advertising. We meet at 6.30 pm. at the back of Spiral on Boundary St, West End. We generally share food at meetings, preferable locally sourced, vegetarian and organic.
