15 October 2011Anne Goddard In my own personal efforts to find ways to take action on Climate Change, i founded a small group of individuals from all walks of life right across the globe and together we sought out ways to mitigate the worst effects of climate change. We learned of the invention of "windpods" by a SA resident by the name of Graeme Attey. Windpods have since been developed with a state grant of $53,000 and put into use in a demonstration model. The current distribution/marketing hub is in this Federal electorate (Kingsford Smith), in NSW. It goes without saying that this brilliant and simple invention should be manufactured locally and distributed globally creating a manufacturing base that would soon see our state a leader in the field of renewable energy solutions. For more details visit their website, http://windpods.com. I am not affiliated to this company in any way, but see windpods as a brilliant way forwards into a sustainable energy future. I hope you will investigate further and reply as soon as possible with your findings. Also, please note that i am strongly opposed to the direction our state is taking with Coal Seam Gas (CSG). This energy feedstock source is finite unlike the sun and the wind. The the exaction methods used appear to be very dangerous - both to water supplies and to seismic stability. I have also learned that insurance against accidental leakage and accidents is very hard to come by and (if it does exist) will be very expensive. 1. Who will guarantee our safety? 2. (a) Why should taxpayers bear the brunt of insurance costs against accidents? (b) is it possible to get such insurance? (c) if so where from? (d) how much will it cost? 3. Why do state royalties not kick in for 5 years? 4. Why allow CSG to proceed when there is no gain and only pain? 5. Why allow such dangerous developments when there are clean SAFE alternatives ready and waiting for the correct political will to be developed? Please ANSWER these 5 simple questions, particularly question 2 parts a - d. Please Mr O'Farrell, lead NSW into a clean energy future. There are safe clean alternatives to dirty, dangerous energy supplies. Let's get them happening.
15 October 2011Christina Reeves I find it appalling and completely hypocritical of this government to impose laws to halt community wind farm projects while our money subsidises new coal fired power stations. If the community choose to build wind farms to provide clean energy with all its health, environment and long term economic benefits then they should be supported in this! I would much prefer to see a windmill than a high tension power line in my community. This decision reeks of corruption!
14 October 2011Russell Langfield You should be rewarding people MORE for actually DOING something about reducing carbon emissions!
08 October 2011Anthony Barnes Dear Sirs, unfortunately it is going to cost money to remove ourselves from energy production by filthy dirty means. But my children's futures are worth whatever it costs and the solutions currently available to burning coal will no doubt reduce in cost over time. One thing that won't change is the rate the snowballing effect of Co2 already in the atmosphere.Thailand is the latest example of extreme weather patterns most likely induced from a warming planet. How much longer will it be before you take this issue seriously,my kids can't wait.
07 October 2011Jo Hoyne We must develop renewable energy such as wind and solar energy for the sake of our children's and grandchildren's future. Without government support this is unlikely. It is unbelievable that communities who want to implement wind power are being blocked by government. Whose interests are being served here?
06 October 2011David Brown Dear Premier, I do not believe as an intelligent person you would support coal power over wind or solar power. My children will suffer from your decision to back big business over any type of clean energy. Very dissapointed in you as premier.
05 October 2011Deborah Maurer Increasing power prices in Australia have prompted me to move as far away from reliance on utitlites as possible. My low income demands it. The news that households going solar or using wind power in NSW and Vic will have no inscentive to follow suit is disppointing to say the least.
05 October 2011Lynette Singleton I had no idea you were cutting funds to alternative energy sources and generally sabotaging the whole industry, until my Union informed me of it. I will never vote NLP again, I really thought you'd changed. No longer your's faithfully Lynette Singleton. PS A reply would be appreciated
